A world leader in lifting equipment, Grove Worldwide is headquartered in Shady Grove, Pennsylvania. Founded in 1947, Grove Worldwide produces a wide variety of mobile hydraulic cranes.
The Shady Grove facility has used Optimation® software for over fifteen years. This software has helped Grove to improve material utilization on its metal cutting machines (three plasma, three gas, one plasma-punch and one laser). Grove currently utilizes the Optimation® software to process an average of 5,000 orders per month for approximately 850 tons of sheet and plate material. Grove currently has an estimated 75 different materials (thickness and grades) ranging from .054" to 8.25" in thickness available for processing. Presently, the part library consists of over 14,000 different parts.
One important benefit of the Optimation® software has been the ability to analyze part sizes (length and width), and quickly identify a better sheet size. This feature is especially important when a new product model makes an existing material size obsolete.
