Cleanpak International manufactures high-performance recirculating air handlers, ceiling systems, walls and access floors for cleanrooms for the semiconductor and pharmaceutical industries. The company, which operates out of a 160,000 square foot facility in a suburb of Portland, is dedicated to providing its customers "cutting edge cleanroom equipment at a lower cost."
The primary challenge to this goal is that Cleanpak is also a make-to-order manufacturer. Thus, since each product is different, writing individual nesting programs was difficult, time consuming and averaged only about 60% material efficiency. With Optimation's® software, the Cleanpak programmer can now nest more than 2,000 parts in a ten-hour day with an average material efficiency of 80%.
