Online Presentations

April 21, 2010 * 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon

Shear Nesting
Optimation® Shear Nesting (AxiomVE) has been enhanced to enable the user to find additional material efficiencies by nesting in external cutouts of a part geometry.

Improvements to Suction Cup Offloading
Optimation® has made enhancements over the last year to our suction cup offloading feature.  In this feature, used primarily with punch and punch/contour processes, we have expanded the number of suction cups allowed on an offloading device, and developed more flexible cup grouping capabilities.  We have also added the ability to offload a full sheet of nested, tabbed-in parts with automatic hole recognition to turn off cups that fall over destructed areas.

Optimation® Database
Optimation® will be moving to a single database repository. This will allow us to provide new features, such as accurate historical reporting and new part librarying tools. It will also improve concurrency and locking behaviors making the software easier to use.

How to Get the Most from AxiomVE
Online lecture discussing optimization of Knowledge Base settings that affect the performance of AxiomVE. AxiomVE is far more advanced than the previous Axiom. Upgrading from Axiom to AxiomVE is sure to yield improvements right out of the box. However, simply dropping AxiomVE in place does not guarantee you will get the most benefit from it. A review of your current settings and nesting strategy is suggested. Adjustments to Cost Model values, parameters, material settings, and nesting strategy can all result in better utilization, automation, and/or throughput.

April 21, 2010 * 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Managers Forum
Optimation® will present topics on how Optimation® software supports and integrates with Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement. Followed by Q&A.

Primary Standards
Our Primary Standards product uses the money that flows through your company to measure every thing your company does. See your operations in a whole new light as it becomes easy to identify those parts, processes, customers, machines, etc., that make the biggest economic impact on your organization. With the development of the Beta version of Primary Standards, improvements can now be targeted where they will provide the most money back to your bottom line.

April 22, 2010 * 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon

Skeleton Nesting
The skeleton nesting feature has been further enhanced. We can now automatically store the skeleton after the nest has been created. Later, when you nest on the skeleton, we will automatically remove the skeleton from the Optimation® inventory if it has been used or update the skeleton with the additional cutouts if there is still more useable area. Furthermore, summary reports will show the saved skeletons that have been created and/or used, in the same manner our traditional remnant feature does.

Offset Nesting for Symmetrical Parts
The Circle Nesting algorithm has been enhanced to work with all manner of symmetrical part shapes such as "+" signs, ovals, and the like. These parts are positioned to utilize the tapered area between these parts, some even to the point of common cutting symmetrical shapes to avoid any wasted material between them. "Half parts" can also be created to fill the gaps at the edges of the nest for even higher yields.

Working with CAD Files
Optimation® reads standard DXF and IGES files; not native CAD file format.  Standardized CAD files speed the manufacturing process by reducing human error and interpretation all source definitions in the same manner, scale, shape units of measure etc.  By use of the CAD configuration file we can filter out layers we don't want to read and assign other layers to specific processes or tools as needed.  In this presentation we will present an overview of working with CAD files including:

  • Using layers and line types to select tools.
  • Using layers to filter out information.
  • Using CAD and part standards.
  • SolidWorks Interface
    • The new SWFile Converter by AdvEnSoft, Inc automates the redundant function of exporting a DXF file from SolidWorks. We now have the means to configure rules to define the part name and combine fields to create a more descriptive material name and some custom fields.

Optimal Sheet Sizes

Everyone Welcome
